Anesthesia Awareness Registry
People interested in contributing their awareness experiences to the Registry fill out a short questionnaire and will have the opportunity to discuss their experiences in more detail with a member of the study team for the Awareness Registry. Those members of the study team include Shawn Mincer, MSW, Christopher Kent, MD, and Karen Domino, MD. Some people will be requested to submit copies of portions of their medical records to the Registry. The registry has a Certificate of Confidentiality from the Federal Government, which protects the person’s privacy. The information collected by the Anesthesia Awareness Registry will help us understand:
-
Why this occurs?
-
How to prevent it in the future?
-
How to help anesthesiologists and other health care providers respond better to patients and help them if awareness does occur?
